Fortnite Chapter 5 vs Chapter 4: What’s New and Improved?

Epic Games has officially launched Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4, dubbed “Absolute Doom,” after teasing the Marvel-themed season last weekend. The company has now shared extensive details about what players can expect in battle royale mode. As you might guess, Doctor Doom features heavily.

Fortnite Chapter 5

The Absolute Doom battle pass, as previously revealed, offers various heroes and villains like War Machine, Gwenpool, and of course, Doctor Doom himself. (How fitting!) The battle Royale Island now includes Doom-themed locations such as Doomstadt and Castle Doom, where players can find Doom’s Arcane Gauntlets to use as weapons. But Doom’s gauntlets aren’t the only Marvel-inspired weapons available; Captain America’s shield is making a comeback from an Endgame-themed mode from 2019.

This marks Fortnite’s second Marvel-themed season; the first, which debuted in August 2020, included characters like Iron Man, Storm, and another version of Doctor Doom in its battle pass. While those outfits won’t be offered again, Epic is changing that policy starting with the Absolute Doom pass.

Additionally, more Disney crossovers are coming to Fortnite, including three Disney villains and characters from The Incredibles. Given Disney’s recent $1.5 billion investment in Epic Games, we can likely expect many more Disney appearances on the battle Royale Island in the future — and there’s even a whole Disney-themed universe within Fortnite on the horizon.
