Breaking News: Knicks Secure Taj Gibson on Non-Guaranteed Deal for Season Reinforcement

Taj Gibson has reached an agreement on a non-guaranteed deal with the New York Knicks for the remainder of the season, marking the fourth collaboration between Gibson and coach Tom Thibodeau in the NBA.

Gibson, 38, finalized the free agent deal after starting center Mitchell Robinson underwent left ankle surgery, with an expected recovery time of two to three months. Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports, Gibson’s representative, confirmed the deal to ESPN on Wednesday.

Having previously played under Thibodeau with the Chicago Bulls and the Minnesota Timberwolves, Gibson returns to join the Knicks, where he spent the 2022-23 season after a three-year stint with Washington.

Currently holding a 13-9 record and sitting in the sixth position in the Eastern Conference, the Knicks are hoping Gibson’s experience and skills will contribute positively to the team.

Known for his toughness and professionalism, Gibson has been a consistent presence in the league, boasting career averages of 8.7 points and 5.9 rebounds over his 15-year career.

To make room for Gibson on the roster, the Knicks made the decision to waive guard Dylan Windler.
