The announcement came on Monday, confirming that Sutton will not receive pay during the suspension period. He can apply for reinstatement on October 29.

The suspension follows an alleged domestic violence incident involving Sutton in Florida this past March. After the charges were reduced from felonies to misdemeanors, Sutton entered a pretrial diversion program and agreed to a mental health evaluation.

The NFL conducted an independent investigation, which resulted in Sutton’s suspension. Prior to joining the Steelers, the Detroit Lions waived Sutton after an arrest warrant was issued. Sutton had previously played with the Steelers from 2017 to 2022.

Upon signing with the Steelers, Sutton commented, “Everybody faces adversity in life. It’s about how you handle it and stay true to yourself.”

In June, Sutton inked a one-year contract with the Steelers. He took part in organized team activities and minicamp but chose not to discuss his arrest or the potential penalties from the NFL.
